I've been observing the used houseboat market for almost a year. Now that I'm r
eady to buy a housebo at, I'm having trouble finding one that seems reas onable
to me.

I've looked at other markets, such as Illinois and Minneapolis, where t
here are many lakes which means many houseboats serving as vacat ion homes. I f
ind the pricing in these markets are realistic, maybe because there are much mo
re hous eboats for sale. The houseboats in this market app ear to be "turn k
ey."

The problem is, I l ive in Virginia. Not so many houseboats here. And,
I am willing to pay more for a houseboat in the a rea that's comparable to a m
idwest houseboat becau se there's the convenience factor: not having to m ove it
far or make travel arrangements for viewing it prior to the sale.

I don't kno
w what the Norf olk/Chesapeake Bay houseboaters are thinking, but their housebo
ats show a total lack of maintenance and up-keep, ...
