I recently purchased a T1987 Three Bouys Sun Seeker 52 foot houseboat with an aluminum hull. I'll be moving it from the owners lake to my nearby lake next week and I'll have it out of the water on a trailer for a few days in order to change the bellows.

I need advice on where and how I should mount the sounder element (or whaterver it is called). Is there a way to mount an element on the bottom of the hull without drilling a hole in the hull?

Thanks,

I like to mount the transducer about 1/3 to 1/2 way back, on the hull, in an area where water flow is not disturbed by any proturbences. The further foreword you put it the sooner you will spot any shallows. However, if its too far to the front you may experience signal drop out at higher speeds.

You will have to put a hole in your bottom.
