I have a dock neighbor that believes that powdered enzymes should be added to the head/holding tank. Is this true? Would it be harmful to my Electric Crown Head?
My marina has weekly dockside pump out. Can the enzymes be benificial or harmful?

Enzymes, powder or liquid, won't hurt a thing. However, when it comes to preventing holding tank odor belching out the tank vent, they don't help much either. When combined with chemical holding tank products, they're totally worthless.

Something should be added to the tank to prevent odor and assist in the breakdown of solids and toilet paper. The only products I recommend are Raritan K.O. (live bacteria) and Odorlos (another organic product that uses nitrates).

My book (see _link_ in my sig) is a complete "101/For Dummies" guide to marine toilet and holding tank installation, operation and maintenance.

I just got Peg's book and I must say I never thought reading about marine sanitation systems would be so interresting! I really recommend it for anyone with an on board head.
