Richard, you might wnt to check that out. I believe the reg covers external appliances like grills. Their rental fleet is equipped with gas stoves and ovens according to their site. OLD HOUSEBOATER39078.8381134259

I'm inclined to agree with OHB - if you look at their regulations, you'll likely see the word "portable"...

Vic & OHB,

I just pulled my copy of the marina's rules and regulations. The wording is: "Barbecues, hibachis, or fires of any kind are not permitted anywhere on dock premises."

I will admit that there could be room for some interpretation here. And it is true that the marina's rental houseboats do have propane grills on the front decks, however, I have never seen anyone using them while in the marina and the word around the docks is that nothing with open flame (fire) is allowed to be used while docked. My range (as all gas ranges) does have open flame and the grill that is mounted on the front deck does also.

This marina is operated under permit from the Forest Service. Hence, all the CYA regulations. There is a 5 year waiting list for slips here and I'm not willing to jeopardize my spot. So I will continue to use the microwave and electric grill while docked.

I would suggest that cooking on the installed stove inside the boat is not affected.  Many boats including sail and recent Aqua Cruisers and others are gas appliance equipped. Including fridges, stoves and hot water heaters. Eleminates a requirement for a generator.

Wouldn't be best to simply ask the marina for their official interpretation? That should eliminate any confusing gray areas.

I'm pretty much a believer in Pirate's "don't ask, don't tell" rule.
