Any suggestions where to find a kit to rebuild or buy a replacement starter for this generator MODEL # 6.5 MCCK-3CR/1H. The number on the starter is SAE J1171. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. Cummins dealer said parts were no longer available for this model. Dealer quote for a new one is $700.

Most every starter / generator / alternator the parts the go bad are electrical of bearings.
If has physical damaged that is bad.
find a shop that repair them (car shop) NOT replaces, repairs them.
