Been looking at this boat since July, finally bought it Oct 1 and am in process of learning. Have to figure out:

Why there are two sets of breakers and what they are for? Stove,
lights water heater, etc. Seems to be more switches than appliances!
Some do nothing?

Suddenly no water pressure on boat, is something switched off that should be on just to activate pump?

Took advice and got a survey, found the boat to be in pretty good shape
for a 40 year old. I hope I won't regret gutting the boat?
Any quirks that anyone knows of? Thanks.

"gutting boat" is maybe a little too drastic a comment. We are updating all the interior with new upholstery, carpet, draperies etc. Have reconfigured the back by removing the table and seating and will build in a u-shaped couch/bed combination.  We are just remodeling to suit our use beter.  Originally thought we might restore the boat to original design, but it had already been changed to a certain extent.  Have had trouble getting insurance unless we updated electrical and some saftey features.

Do either one of you have any pics to share on your boats? I just recently purchased a 50 foot burns and we are remodeling the whole thing. Have ran into several problems since starting. Have found a large bundle of wires in the galley inside the upper cabinets. NO CLUE what they go to!! Do you have any idea? Do your boats have gauges that tell you how much water you have in your tanks or what your generator is putting out? Mine was already stripped out, so I really don't even know what it should look like. Any help would be appreciated.

Teddy,

I recently purchased a 50' Burnscraft ('76 ) that had not been out of it's dock in 8+ years. I have all the running gear (350ci Chevys) and V drives with new fluids and working fine. I haven't done any interior work to it yet although a make over is in the plans. It would be a great help if I could follow your rebuild. I have not encountered any wiring problems yet. I have had my Burns since Labor Day week and have been in the bilges ever since.

Since we seem to be ones of the few 50' burns owners, I would love to get and stay in touch, Hal ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it )

I don't think we could both be wrong because my HID# begins with BMF as well. Repacking the stuffing boxes on the 50 footer--- real close quarters, [i]50burnscraft
