Hey Everyone,

In reference to my previous post, If I were to install a self-sustainable electrical system I would need to increase my battery capasity quite a bit, perhaps 6 total....thats a bit of extra weight The normal battery placement is in the rear. Adding five more to the rear seems a bit much.
So what if I were able to build them in more to the horizontal center? That shouldn't hut anything should it? The boat is 36'x12'.

They have to be placed where you can provide ventilation.

Should not be a problem. You don't need to breathe them. Need to consider gauge sizes of your wiring to your head and engine starters if you use the bank for those services. OLD HOUSEBOATER38956.8607407407

OHB,

Right, I'll be getting into that shortly or, I think I might have someone else get into it for me. Can you please explain for me though the difference between Marine wiring and Land _base_d wiring? How do I tell the difference?

Marine wiring is stranded instead of solid so that vibration doesn't affect it. Google "marine wiring" and you will get a lot of sources. Marinco used to have an excellent reference. Don't know if it's still available.

If you are going to use them for anything else that starting the engine, use deep cell batteries, or closed cell batteries (never need water)

'Engine starting' batteries won't take running discharged and re-charger again.

You will be replacing batteries every 4 -6 months.

Dealing on the wight, the batteries have to be place so they don't wight you one side down and also fore and atf

Just ask for UL Boat Cable. It is marine wiring.
