I'm a newby to this forum and houseboat remodeling. My boat is at Lake Barkley, Kentucky. My expertise is in carpentry and I give myself about a C+ in plumbing and less than that in electrical.
I am in the process of repairing water lines and drains. My questions is at this point where does the grey water go? Does it tie into the head drain or does it have a drain of its own going out the bottom of the boat? Any help would be appreciated. Carl Fuller

Grey water usually exits just above the water line on most boats.

Thanks Old Houseboater, I was looking at old pictures when she was in drydock and noticed a port below the bilge pump port and it also looked like below the waterline. I was wondering whether there was a check valve or something that I could not see. The ports are on the starboard side below the galley window. I tried to send a picture but I'm no better at the computer than at remodeling houseboats. Carl Fuller

I have a 76 model 43' Burns. My shower, wet bar, and bathroom sink all drain through ports on the starboard side at about mid ship. The galley drain is on the port side. (doing this from memory but I think this is correct) All are well above the waterline and easily visible. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information on the grey water. My grey water ports are just a little below the water line but I haven't sunk so I quit worrying about it. If it is ok I would like to change the subject. My boat has 2-318 chyrsler engines and a generator meaning 3 batteries. How should the 12 volt system be distributed? Thanks

Has anyone changed out the light fixtures (A.C.), in particular the one over the sink. Mine has 1-120 volt bulb with with switch and I think a 120 volt halogen bulb with switch. Anyway, where do you shop for that kind of fixture. Thanks, Carl

Are you sure the other bulb isn't a 12 volt DC? You can find fixtures at West Marine, but they have pretty nice stuff in dual voltages at RV supply stores.

Thanks, My problem is the fixture was already down and lookes like someone was going to change it and didn't get it done. I don't think it is dual voltage because it has a regular 40 watt light bulb, and the other bulb looks like a car tail light bulb that's marked 75 watt, 125 volt on the socket. The fixture is a 6'' dome light that I think works off a switch. Carl
