Don

7.4 is not good. You may get into some tidal flows in some areas that might give you grief. Check your tide tables carefully so that you can time them to favor the direction you want to go.

boat will do 9 knots - 7.4 is at 3900 rpms

I ran the Delaware and here at night to catch the tidal flow - otherwise it would be against me.

I just refueled here at the patuxent river - another 68 gallons.

making 8.2 knots at 4500 rpms.

I appears as though your trip my take even longer, NOAA has tropical storm warnings up and down the flordia/atlantic coast. hope it doesn't run up the coast or you may be tied-up for a few more days.

P.S. the speed of a boat has a direct corolation to the amount of "torpedo juice" the captian has on board for the trip.

A bad day on the river still beats a good day at work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO BEARCATS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & ;nbs p; & ;nbs p; & ;nbs p;

Go get him OHB, he is going to be in for it. Should we notify Davy to get ready?

Come on guys!. Cut him some slack. He is keeping his chin up and doing good, although at a slow pace. Not sure if I agree with the night ops, but geez cheer him on.

You act like you want him to fail. Very disappointing.

Things down around Albemarle have been the dog days of summer. Dead calm and HOT.

We are just putting a little humor in to it. We certainly do not wish him to fail. he is not thru the worse part. I just pray for clear weather. When I did thing like this the unexpected always occurred that the weather man said would not. We are waiting on his reports but we have to chide him a little. I do not think he will do it again in an underpowered vessel such as that. I did it without GPS or anything but a VHF. At least he has those aids. Got into a real mess on a new 42 Gibson in November of 1973, on the Mississippi, floods 8 fters, debris, barges out of control, buoys going under, 80 Mph winds when I got to Lake Barkley. Had to use full power with twin V-drives to get it to the dock as the wind was a beam. It a cornfield part of the time. Got water in the gas in Hickman Kentucky, had drums on top. Put fuel in above the locks on the Cumberland engines quite and we were headed for the spillway with water 4 ft over flood stage. I got it started on one and was able to keep it going on and off. Give it to much throttle she would quit. I had a gallon of denatured alcohol and poured it in the tanks and got to Rock Harbor near Nashville. First person we saw was Eddy Arnold, he said were in the H--- have you guys been? We went to Memphis and back. There was a lot more also, one barge was out of control and we had to go thru logs to the bank in fog or be run over. He was yelling on the radio that he was out of control. Missed us by 25 ft. I could go on and on. We are just trying to get people to use caution. We have preached proper boat for years.

Hey - I'm still alive - LOL

Spent last night at the bluewater yacht center in Hampton, Virgina.

Left with the wife in the morning at 6 AM

Crossed Norfollk Harbor in a stiff breeze with 2 to 3 foot of chop superimposed on a 4 foot swell.

almost to elizabeth city
