I don't know if this is relevant to your _style_ of pump but I learned the hard way that the impeller has to be going the correct direction--Meaning you have to twist it into the housing bending the rubber blades over a little bit. If you twist it in the wrong way it won't work right at high revs but low will be ok.

Problem solved, Apparently I didn't get a good seal between the two halves when I rebuilt the pump. Pump was drawing some air resulting in overheating at higher rpms. I thought I could rebuilt the pump myself, but it was very difficult without the proper tools replacing the bearings, impellers, etc. I'll leave this job to the pros.
Thanks for the responses. One last question. What kind of life do most of you get from your pumps before replacing the impellers?

I get 2 1/2 out of mine. Lately I've been changing them at 2 yrs so I'm not down any during the season. GregP39037.6653240741
