We have four 80 gallon tanks on our summerset.

We have used Raritan KO in the past and still had trouble with an odor outside the boat when we flushed. With this boards recomendation we added a Sweettank unit to each tank. After one week the problem was gone. But now after a 10 days of use the odor is back and worse than ever. The smell is still only putside the boat but almost constant.

We plan on dumping it tomorrow. But need some help. Should we use a chemical of somekind with the sweettank devices or the Odorlos or kO. Please help we are running out of options

Thanks

"Stinky"

If you only have odor outside the boat, there's no doubt that it's coming from inside the tanks. Do NOT use any tank additives. But before I can offer any answers, I need answers to some questions:

Have you left all four Sweetanks running continuously since you installed 'em?

How deep are your tanks?

How deep was the level in the tank when you first started to experience odor again?

Are all the tank vents separate, each going to its own thru-hull? Or are any teed to create a single one out the hull?

And finally...did you follow the installation instructions exactly...or "wing" any part of it? (Be honest!)

Btw...Do you realize that when all 4 tanks are full you're storing more than 1.25 TONS (2667 lbs to be exact) of raw sewage aboard??? That's enough to allow 4 people to remain continously aboard, without ever going ashore even once for nearly a month...enough for more than two months of weekends......why on earth would anyone need that much capacity??? peghall38180.8531828704

Thanks for your help!
Yes they have been running continuosly.
The tanks are 19 inches deep.
The level of the tanks were about alittle over a third full.
The vents are teed to make two vents one out each side of the boat.
We followed instructions exactly the sweettanks all seem to be
running fine.

And yes we have discussed how we have two much storage.
We have considered cutting it down to two tanks one per head.
Thanks again.

I just got off the phone with Groco. If you're SURE that *all four* Sweetanks really have been running continuously, we're 99% certain that if your bubblers are long black hoses, your problem is due to clogged bubblers...that's been a problem with those bubbers. The good news is, they've recently changed the design...the new ones are multicolored to make it easy to recognize which bubblers you have...and they assure me that these can't clog. If you call Groco, they'll send you 4 of 'em for no charge.

So give 'em a call: 410-712-4242 and ask for James in customer service. He'll also be glad to answer any other questions you have about it--or figure out what else could be wrong if you already have the new bubblers--and how to maintain 'em to prevent problems in the future.

We have the new bubblers, and they have ran non stop since we
have put them in. We are 100% sure of our installation.

Then the only thing left to do is call Groco.

Fwiw, yours is the first complaint I've seen/heard about the Sweetank, so something isn't working the way it should. James should be able to figure out what and tell you how to fix it.

Eric, what did Groco tell you was the problem with your Sweetank? What's the fix, and did it work?
