We're researching a family house boat vacation in FL next winter. This would be in the Sanibel Island, Captiva, (Fort Meyers) area. I've found some boat rental places (one was featured on the Travel Channel) that sound good. I'm mainly looking for reviews, opinions, tips, etc. Can anyone help or give me a _link_ where I can find more information like this? I want to know what other families have done, what the pros and cons are, etc.

We've never house boated before.

There are only two in the area, one was picked by the Travel Channel, one was not. Seems like a fairly easy decision to me.

Check on the age of their boats, policy in the event of a breakdown and what they do if you're not satisfied with the boat when you arrive (dirty, worn out, things broke or not working, etc.). If you know anyone in the area who can look at the boats for you, call and ask to see the boats before you make your decision.
