Water & waste holding tanks 4 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
My aluminum waste tank has sprung a leak & I would like to know what is the best type material to replace it with? Also my fresh water tanks are 18 years old & I wondered what the life expectancy of them might be. Any suggestions as to the best place to buy the tanks? I am on Lake Lanier in Georgia. Also any ideas on how I can increase the pressure of my dock water? I mainly use my tanks with the pressure pump and refill as necessary. Thanks for any advice

Thick-walled rotomolded polyethylene is the recommended material for
waste holding. Welded thick-walled polyethylene is the next best
choice. Any _meta_l is a bad choice.

Your best source for a tank is Ronco-Plastics...they make top quality
waste and water tanks for a very reasonable price and have more than
400 shapes and sizes to choose from. Their catalog is on their website
at http://www.ronco-plastics.com.

Average life expectancy of an aluminum water tank is 20-25 years. If
yours are already 18 years old, now might be a good time to replace 'em
while you're already replacing holding tanks, 'cuz Ronco usually will
offer a VERY good discount on orders of 3 or more tanks if you ask.

As for increasing your dock water pressure, I don't think there's any
way to do it....'cuz the more people on the dock using water for
anything, the lower the pressure gets. I spent 20+ years on
Lanier, and about the only time I ever had decent water pressure was
mid-week when the weather stank. Saturday mornings in the summer
when all of us were washing boats took it down to a trickle.

Don't even THINK of trying to modify your own boat's plumbing system to
increase the pressure...that's the best way I know to blow out a
plumbing fitting.
