Nice forum... I'm new to this houseboating thing and 1 thing that's concerning me is how do you guys handle the toilet waste and grey water? Are these boats equipped with some sort of container or what? Then... if you are taking showers often, how does this work? That's a big amount of water that needs to be handled in a way or another... just wonderin'
Thanks!

Only toilet waste must be held in a tank or treated by a CG certified device and discharged. Gray water (shower, bath and galley water) is discharged directly overboard.

As a new boat owner, you'd be wise to spend some time exploring your boat, finding everythng on it and learning how it works. An emergency is hardly the best time to START looking for things like the holes in the bottom of the boat for toilet flush water and engine cooling water and how to close them if a hose has parted company with one of them. It's also a very good idea to know how things are supposed to work, so you'll know when they aren't in time to prevent a small problem from turning into a big one.

TeemuPatala,

I noticed in another post That you are from Scandinavia. I am assuming your country has similar regulations as to what Peg mentioned , but I would add that you check with your local marinas/gov't agencies to find out for sure.

Also, as Peg mentioned explore your boat (or prospective boat) crawl around under the floor. Follow all hoses, connections, etc. It's not real fun to crawl around down there, but it will pay off in spades if you ever have an emergency.

Hi there,

I apologize. I just saw that I posted a message in the wrong place. I'm so new. Can someone explain a little about how to go about posting.

Is this the right place? Under "quote?"

Sorry
