Hello. I have been thinking about moving aboard a vellel, for quite a few years, but one of my problems is just where I want to spend time sailing. I have been looking at some of the sites and maps of the Mississippi. It seems a long enough river that I maiht be able to spend a lot of time exploring...I am wondering if anyone on this list is living on that river. My ideal would be to chase the weather, be warm in the winter, and move to cooler spots in the summer. The Gulf of Mexico, also looks like a cool place to spend a winter. I imagine I will be limited by the type of vellel, I wind up with. as I am not a rich guy, I will have to shop carefully for the boat, I wind up with....I really like the space / $$$$ ratio, and the comfort of house boats....then I guess I will be limited to rivers and lakes. forget the Gulf. A trawler was suggested to me, but I think it would be out of my price range, for the size I would like....Sail boats are, if I am not mistaken, by their mast hight, and keel depth. A ny and all coments would be welcome....And thanks to those that take the time.

Tell us what your budget is and we can tell you what kind you can get. Some houseboats would work on the intercoastal.

I am thinking in the $100K-125k range. I guess it is hard to have it all, especially when you are not Bill Gates...I like the idea of deisel, but that would not be so cost effective, as some in another forum pointed out....I would like to do the ICW, and be able to go up the Mississippi, Maybe that is not doable, I am just fishing...Thanks
