As a new houseboat owner (after many years of renting), we are trying to find someone with information on building more sleeping area. We are particularly interested in some type of drop-down bunk, something that could be up and out of the way during the day....any suggestions out there? Lori Brubaker

It's not as hard as you think. Just draw what you want and build it . I was going to build drop down bunks on our boat, but insetead opted for actual double bunks. Turned out great. I may change it over time after I see if we need the space, but for now I can sleep 7-8 and on real mattresses. Not too shaby.
If you are not the handy type, talk to a carpenter and tell them what you want . It can definately be done.
If you need help , I would be glad to assist.

Not enough sleeping area? (1) Don't invite guests (2) Buy a bigger tub (3) Don't sleep (4) Try sleeping vertcally

There are several motorhome companies that use dropdown bunks. If you could find one of these, I think it would be the easiest solution. We owned a Superior a few years back that had one, and it was a very durable design.

There are wood0working/cabinet supply catalogs that sell the hardware to make both verticle AND horizontal fold0up beds. The british navy slept in canvas hammocks 15" apart. How about a pop-up tent, up on top of your cabin? A air mattrice from QVC? A futon couch?
