I think b/j might refer to bottom paint job??. I agree with old houseboater there are some boats that are beyond repair. Most of the structural stuff in houseboats like Gibson's,Carlcraft, etc. seems pretty simple, nothing like a blue water boat. I was surprised with this Nauta Line how simple the hull is I'm surprised it has held up for 30 years. It does take time to restore a boat if you have the skills and time to do so you can get a pretty good boat with good resale value assuming you got it right in the first place. I do feel for people who buy an old boat not realizing what they have gotten into.

B/j is just short for Bottom paint job. Ha Ha, down men VBG. I had three people look at the boat when I went to bid on it. They all work at the marina I will be moving the boat to. I only paid $1500.00 for the boat at an auction. and I was offered by the men who came out to look at the boat well over that amount. As a matter of fact one was willing to pay me $5000.00 and triad me a 15 foot Ebbtide. But right now I need a place I can call my home and than start banking some money to get me a home with some land. I hope to get something on the water so my house boat can go with me ha,ha.
I could not pass up the deal, so I went for it.
This weekend I pulled out all the carpet. The floor is in great shape. I will have to replace one area of the wall where rain came in through a window. and than some cosmetic work which I will need to do. I plan on putting in a shower. and than doing the walls in real wood. The floor will be tile. As soon as I get some pictures of the boat I will let everyone see the before and after photos. There is a fireplace on the boat so I my try and sell it. The fireplace is in good shape but it is of no use to me in Texas. It is a freestanding fireplace with a fluke like tube which went into the birth area. I guess they used it to help keep the birth area warm. I wont need that in Texas, besides I have my pups to keep me warm. Someday I will find a man to take the keeping me warm job over from the dogs, Ha ha.
I had another guy looking at the boat this weekend, he offered me some money for the davits on my boat. I told him I was not sure if I wanted to sell them just yet. He asked to come in and see the inside of the boat, because he had been wondering what all I had been up to. He is restoring an old wooden sail boat. He gave me some pointers on some of the work I was doing and I also had him show me what stringers are and if he could see any blistering. he got into where the motors area and told me the stringers are in great shape and than looked all over for blistering and found none. than he got on top of the boat and told me everything looked great. He than wanted to buy the swim deck from me and I felt bad telling him I was not willing to sell it as well. He left me his number as he left the boat and told me he was considering a house boat to live on, and than told me he could not give up the home where he is now. When I looked at his card I was amazed to find out who I was dealing with. He is the owner of almost every great five star restaurant's in Galveston and Houston area, so I guess he would have a hard time leaving his home for a house boat. I can only imagine what his home looks like. I was also invited to come see his big boat as he called it, which he keeps at South Shore in kehma. What a nice guy. I have found a lot of nice boat people around and am looking forward to meeting others.
Till the next update.
