< => We have just bought our first houseboat a 44 Kings Craft, we will be doing a complete refit on it but first we are trying to find a chemical that we can use to clean the boat, we have found some mold or just plain dirt after tearing down the panels. So far we have not found any household cleaner that will do the job other then just powerwashing or steam cleaning. Has anyone come up with the same issues. Any information will be helpful. Also we want to insulate the boat, has any one done this and what product did they use?? We are considering the hard sheets of one inch insulation or the insulation in plastic batting. We hope that we will be able to get alot of enjoyment out of this boat. Thanks for your help, we are sure that we will have many more questions and concerns later on as we move along, thanks for this site.

Looks like no one has any pointers so I'd say just use your own common sense.  I'd like to have an aluminum boat but I'm restoring a fiberglass Chris Craft instead.  I use a pressure washer to clean the outside of my boat.  It still doesnt come completely clean in some areas but all the topside of my boat has been painted over the gelcoat and I have redone much of that paint, plan to redo it all.  My hull buffed out pretty nicely except along the waterline where I will have to wetsand and later pull the boat for new bottom paint.  I had no room or need in my walls for insulation but I've seen discussion on sites mainly advocate the solid sheet type insulation, definitely avoid foam.  Good luck, I'm sure your boat will come out great when done!
