I am looking at a 43 foot Delta Cruser that has the floors and supports badly rotted. Has anyone done this type of repair? I like the layout of this boat and the engines are in good shape. Anyone have experience with this boat and this problem? Thank you. David in the Delta.
If you check further you will likely find engine stringers, transom, deck supports and under structure, roof structurals, and wall structurals also rotted.
Because many of these boats have negative value and cost a lot of money to dispose of. Be careful. Wood structural repairs of this nature usually cost more than the boat is worth.
Many fiberglass boats have a lot of wood in the construction. The rotting of the wood is the chief reason for their eventual demise.
The wood doesn't dry rot it rots from moisture that was constant over a long period of time.
