Leaky old Tub 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello the group. I have a problem that I'm sure some of you old heads can help me with. I have a leak on my 69 River Queen, but only when it rains! It appears to be all coming from the stern, around the area of the rear bulkhead. I have a sliding door there, I have calked all around it, I found a small drip around the ele. outlet on the wall (no power yet), I have wire brushed, caulked and primered around the exterior of the cabin where it joins the hull, but I'm still getting some drips. All in all, after a hard rain, I'm wetvac-ing about 5 gallons of water out of the keel.(floor's out being replaced) Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, don't know what I would do with out y'all. Sink, I supose,

Bryan C. Loy

Some times the source of these leaks is almost impossible to find. As OHB said, check the roof. Often the entry for the water is a long ways away from where it is coming out. It just takesm patience and persistence.

I'm too stubborn to quit, plus I'm into this thing now, gotta finish it!  Thanks for the advice.  I fould where a little of it us coming in.  Sliding glass doors on the stern can be a pain sometimes.

Make sure the window channels are not plugged up.

I will, but I believe that most of it is coming from around the bottom of the sliding door. There is a tube of square steel that protrudes into the living quarters at the bottom of the sliding door, and it keeps me from caulking all the way across on the inside. I have put new calulking on the outside, of course. Thanks for the help. Any other ideas? I sure do apprecite them.

Thanks for all the replys and suggestions! I think I've found it finally. the gasket holding the glass into the door _frame_ was(is) defective. A bead of caulking around the door has taken care of about 95% of it, it would appear. I'll fine tune it now, and get rid of the rest. I've gone from a monsoon to a trickle. Thanks again,
Bryan
