Hello all. Well, now that I've got my little W'beke diesel genny up and running smoothly, I noticed that her vibrations are transmitted throughout the aluminum hull, and are quite noisy. There are four rubber vibration isolators where the genset is mounted to the genset _base_. They are cone-shaped (like a child's spinning top or a Hershey's chocolate kiss), and appear to be in excellent condition. I looked at a picture of the genset in the owners' manual, and it shows the isolators mounted with the "pointy" side up (touching the genset), and the "wide side" down (touching the genset mounting _base_. This makes sense to me. What doesn't make sense is that the rubber isolators on my genny are mounted the exact opposite of the way the picture showed them, and they appear to have original paint overspray on them. Could it be that they were installed incorrectly at the factory? Is this what's causing what seems to be excessive vibration and noise? The genset mounting _base_ is securely anchored to the boat structure, so that can't be the problem. Thanx in advance for any sage advice you can provide. Cap'n Jeff

I found a W'beast website with some generator installation drawings that answered my question. "Pointy side" up.
