Fuel Problem 4 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Dear Old Houseboater,

I have a 1975 Skipperliner with a Ford 351 engine.I lived a board for a couple of years and she has been a great vessel. The problem is when I throttle up to 1500-1800 RPMS I run out of gas.The mechanical fuel pump is relatively new(3 years) and the vents are clear. If I pump gas with a hand bulb pump and get the fuel to fuel pump she runs great!I thought about installing a 12 volt electric in-line marine pump to get the fuel up there.Do you think this would solve the problem or should I replace the mechanical pump again? Out of gas on the Mississippi

Pull the fuel line from the tank first, put an extension on your sucker bulb ang get all the water and trash from the bottom of the tank. remove the line at the fuel pump and blow it back. Change out your fuel filter and also the one in the carb inlet if so equipped.

If this doesnt do it then replace pump.
