Bottom Coating Question 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hello the list. I have my 40' River Queen drydocked, getting ready to sandblast and recoat the bottom. My question is, is there another source for coal tar epoxy besides a marine store? That stuff is pretty pricey! I have always observed that anything that says "marine" on it is going to be twice as expensive, so I am looking for an alternative source. Many thanks in advance,
Bryan

Sherwin Williams as well as other paint and industrial coating stores.

Coal Tar Epoxy is an industrial coating used for protection of _meta_l and concrete underwater structures. Best protection you can get for steel and aluminum hulled boats.

Will give Sherwin Williams a call. Pittsburgh store locally did not have anything like that. Thanks, and if anyone else has an idea, please let me know. Thanks again

2 coats - 4 to 7 years if you touch up scuff spots every 2 years. Be sure to maintain your zincs.
