Stern Power is another name for the DANA drive. See the sticky on DANA above.

I was under the impression that Stern Powr replaced the Dana drives. Stern Powr is still producing drives. The 1000 series seems to be popular. I use a Stern Powr model 103 and it a very strong reliable unit.

All the internal parts are the same. The modern flat top case evolved in the late 70s. I had 2 sets of model 90s on RiverQueens. One of the toughest units built. Also used on diesels.
This was a unit developed by EATON Corporation. It was my impression the production ended with the demise of Chrysler Marine in the late 70s or early 80s. Marysville Marine of Michigan bought out the remaining stock at that time.
