We'd love to learn all we can about these wonderful old boats. This 1969 model has been perfect for us to live and travel on. We especially would like to correspond with others who have one. We have heard rumors that there was a Tucker on the St. Mary's River last winter and saw an ad for one for sale in Cinncinnati. But so far, have never seen another.

The Tucker boats were all built in Cincinnati by Tucker Marine. They
built over 200 boats, with the first few being steel. The rest were all
aluminum.

Tucker was sold a few years ago to Walker Marine Group. They no longer
build boats. I have a friend at our marina on the Ohio River who owns a
42' 1969 Tucker. I know of at least 6 others in the Cincy area. There
is one here that is 65' long. They are all fine boats- right up there
with Pluckebaums in quality and seaworthiness. Many of them were diesel
powered.

Incidently, Chris Tucker, the grandson of the founder still works at the
yard, and so does Butch Chambers who has been there for 35 years- he
helped build many Tucker boats. Those guys can tell you everything you
want to know about 'em. Walker Marine Group Ph. - 513-321-6600

Hi

I write for Waterblogged and Ohio Boating.net
and I am going to be doing a piece on Tucker marine in the near future.
As fate would have it, I write from the old Tucker barge and it has had
me fascinated to imagine the boats rising up from the belly of this
barge to the stage where they were completed outside in the yard. In
the first part of a preliminary interview I did with Chris and his wife
Susan, Chris described how his family prepared the plot of land the
barge rests on, digging out the spot and waiting for the flood that
would carry her in position and drop her in place when the water
recedes.

If you want to see the work going on inside today, our Gallery
has an album called Mile Marker 464.2 that has shots of the activities
in the barge and in the boat yards and neighboring marinas.

I'd love to also talk with folks with Tucker boats. If you'd like to
tell me about yours, drop me an email. I'd love to interview you.

You have a great Forum here. Appreciate your time.

Ann

There are a couple of tuckers in the no Alabama area. Over 60 ft and steel. built like tanks from what I could see. A woman was rebuilding one herself. She wanted OHB to help her but he could not. I guess he is just irresistible.

The 60 footer was in Florence Al. a few years ago. Had slant 6 Chryslers. For its time it was a good looking boat.

Thanks for the clue on these boats. The steel boat with gas engines sounds very different from those I've been able to find so far. Do you remember any boat names or any other details that would help me find them?
