The era of steel houseboats is over but if new ones were built in aluminum I'm sure they would have a market if priced right and 14+ feet wide.

Owned 68 -38' 69 - 37' 73 - 40' Star Stream - outstanding boats in their time.

I wanted to take a run at Kingscraft after the owner died but it was not possible for economic reasons. Pirate, Charlie Burns and I looked at building glass houseboats a few years back but start up costs are beyond us. I think the molds still exist. We would be glad to sell you a new Holiday Mansion.

I would be curious, and would certainly consider it. I have a fondness for steel hull vessels, and think they are appropriate for Eastern rivers.

My wife has a Stardust Cruiser that we're restoring. It's inspired me to look at Glen L's Bon Voyage. Of course, I'd build the steel version.

On the other hand, a 40 to 50 foot RQ may be just the thing for a river cruiser like me!

Ran into RJ Petersen a few weeks back and he indicated an all aluminum hull River Queen slated for fall 2006! Didn't get any other info out of him as far as size, power, outdrives. Will keep you posted if I stumble across any other info.

YES! We have restored our 1969 37' River Queen over the last five years. We liveaboard and LOVE this boat! Granted, many of our upgrades would not have been avialable on the original River Queen. But we would not trade this boat for any other 38' - 45' boat on the market today.

I've been restoring my 69 37 footer for the last 2 years, and it's
better than new. I have twins and it runs great. I'm hoping
to get it into an antique boat show where I live, if they aren't too
snooty because it's not wood. I love the boat. My parents
bought one identical to it new in August of 69.

I have a 1970 River Queen that my partner and I have restored after it sank the first time we launched it in 2000 (rusted through from the inside out; we were to stupid to know about that).  After repairing the keel and hull and doing major and minor renovations (although nothing like Mike Wolfe has done), we live on it in the summertime on the Ohio River.  If River Queen were stll making houseboats, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat; love ours.
