I'm about to repower my 1969 40 ft. Put a rod thru the side of the port motor this summer, appears to have been the original. Have the dana 80 series drives on it I'm looking at new crate motors rated at 300hp each. Any limitations as to the amount of hp the drives can handle? Also want to replace the clutch plate and overhaul the hydraulics. I'd appreciate any information.

THE DANAS WILL HANDLE IT. YOU NEED TO KEEP THE CLUTCH SYSTEM THOUGH. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU PICK UP ANOTHER MOPAR AND REPLACE THE ONE THAT YOU BLEW. SALVAE THE CAM AND LIFTERS OUT OF THE BLOWN ENGINE AND GO FROM THERE. NOTE: THE 360 CU BLOCKS WERE WONDERFUL IF YOU CAN FIND A PAIR.

Just curious as why I would save the cam and not replace it with a newer one? Is there something special with this cam?

Marine Cam.
Note: make sure you get the right block you may have an early type as riverqueen was still using them in this time_frame_.

I was wondering something, could you possibly use an older model diesel with a bell houseing that fits a crysler or dodge? could be a cheap way to convert to diesel? Not sure if it would work that way, but just maybe.
