Texas registration 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
WOW, I have had an IRS audit go easier than getting my boat registered in Texas. I purchased my Kingscraft in Oklahoma. Because I brought the boat over the state line they need a pencil tracing of the hull ID number. For what ever reason the number is not on the back transom as it should be. The boat had some repair work many years ago in that area. They sent out an ranger to inspect the boat and look for the id number. he also did not find it. After a couple of calls they decided the number was not there, something I told them from the very get go. Now they have to send out another person but wait. They looked up and saw that the boat I paid cash for and the previous owner paid cash for has a lien against it. The previous owner has no idea what that is about so now I am contacting banks to find out what this lien is if in fact it is a lien or the state of Texas looked up the wrong information. I hope I get this figured out this year. I am sure I am not the first person who has bought a boat nd can not find the ID number on the hull. The have not had the boat reported as stolen and I have a clear _title_ so I am not sure what the problem is. Has anyone else had this many problems getting a boat registered.

When I worked for Kings Craft we stenciled the ID number in the
upper corner on the left side at the top from the outside. Now once
before I had to get in the engine room with a piece of paper and pencil
and rub over the inside to get the numbers. I will bet any amount of
money there is one there because all of our boats were registered with
the Coast Guard Approval stamp. What size boat did you purchase?

I would bet someone filed a mechanics lien on the boat, could be a marina for storage. This is more than likely what Texas found if they are correct. There would be no other liens since you have a clear _title_.

Anybody have an electric schematics on the Kings Crafts? I think I have a fairly original model of a '72. Any plans showing construction? Lan

Texas was not reading the report all the way to the bottom of the page. It was free and clear. Man, they had me making calls everywhere, and all they had to do is read all the way down the page. The head of the department asked, "Why are you doing all this, your boat is free and clear of all liens." I than said "PRINT IT OUT" and left with the registration.
