The interior work has begun at last. Heather and I went into the shop this past Monday to see the progress and OK the dimensions and placement. The features are being fiber glassed this week.
I have decided to build a new front door. The old one is not in good enough shape to keep. The glass split and water got inside it so it is really heavy and rotted inside. After talking with Terry our fiberglass pro I've decided on making one out of marine grade Mahogany then a good coating of Epoxy to seal it nicely...going to be a very simple design but pretty!
More info as I go,

We have worked all summer on the exterior hull and upper deck. We have finally finished filling and sanding all the pin holes and the large areas of gelcoat loss. Some of these were an inch in diameter. I'm not even sure how many batches of marine tex I made up anymore! It all looks good now and we have even finished sanding with the 220...we are ready to paint. The boat has not been rebuilt inside though. The fiberglass shop we are at has us on the back burner and we are just getting in for the rest of our interior rebuild in the next week or so. We have been told spring will be better to paint so now we are ready...except for scrubbing her down. We are scheduled to meet with the shop owner to go over the interior rebuild this coming Tuesday Oct. 26. The shop is putting in the main bulk heads and some of the structure and we will be finishing the rest ourselves. This seems to be taking forever but we have hopes to have Tugger in the water early next summer.

Hi Everyone,
I don't know about you but I have come to love the product called Marine Tex. It has given us the ability to repair the gel coat on our old house boat. We will soon be painting the upper and lower hull, the upper hull will remain white while the lower hull will be painted a light blue which is closer to the original color of the hull when it was made. The front deck has been rebuilt and is strong as a brick sh@#house now! same as the floor and transom...

We bought this house boat this past summer. We did not realize how much work it really needed. The more we got into it the more we came to realize it was beyond our capabilities to actually complete. We have since found a reputable fiberglass repair shop to do the needed structural work. The work began just within the last two weeks. At this point the boat has been seperated into two halves. It is a clam shell design so it needed to be separated to be worked on. So far the boat has been totally gutted. The old floor and stringers have been removed and rebuilt and the transom has been removed and totally rebuilt.

Update : June 27, 2010
The front deck has been restored now and the upper deck and lower hull have been rejoined! I will add pictures soon of the new front deck. Work on the exterior is now beginning. We are repairing the gel coat where it has broken down. The new internal bulkheads have been designed and will be installed soon.
