I guess I'll start by telling you a little about the boat and how we got here. About 10 years ago my wife and I took our 3 kids (my son was 14 and my girls were 6 and 8) on a mini vacation to Table Rock Lake in Missouri. We rented a houseboat for 4 nights and 5 days during the week. I think it was around $1200.00 for the rental. It had all the amenities, though nothing fancy, for a week out on the lake. I had some reservations about doing it, with the kids cooped up on a 50-foot houseboat for a week. Figured they might get bored and by the second or third day the whining would become unbearable. It was reasonably priced if you figure accommodations for the 5 of us, plus what we would save on food being able to cook on the boat, and the "built-in" recreation, so I thought we'd give it a try.
