Newbie with 1963 River Queen 3 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Well after looking and searching we found the houseboat for us. Price was right and it is in tip top shape. It is a 1963 River Queen 40 footer that has been rebuilt from bottom to top, bow to stern and port to starboard.
2 years ago it was put back in the water after a 3.5 year rebuild. The prior owner cut no corners and spared no expense in his craftsmanship.
New steel on the hull that has been covered with coal tar epoxy. Sandblasted, then a wash coat then coat after coat with 24 hours curing time between each one. A total of 15 gallons used to coat the hull. A stainless steel cap covers the area from where the bow begins to curve upward to the top of the hull. All walls were pulled inside and new wiring, plumbing, etc.. Old cabinets removed and new handcrafted solid walnut cabinets as well as a helm made from solid handcrafted walnut. New counter and table tops as well as stainless steel sink and 2 burner stove. I know that I am leaving out a lot but this has been a complete refit rebuild.
The motor is a 140 hp Mercruiser with 90 hours since a bottom to top rebuild and a 6.5 Kohler marine gen that will be installed Friday after having a bottom to top rebuild.
All of the work has been documented from taking her out of the water to putting her back in and everything in between by photos. The prior owner has given me the pics to scan so I can continue the pictorial documentation of the boat.
I will try to post a couple of current pics here if I can.

Can't wait to see the pictures. We owned 3 RiverQueens in the 80s.

Where are you docking?

Did you have any trouble getting insurance?

If the person that rebuilt the boat has a history of the rebuild, our members would be VERY interested in reading about it.

I tried to put a couple of pictures up last night but was not able to. It may be the size of it. Once I get the rebuild pictures scanned I will put them in an on- line photo album with a link here.
She is located at the Crystal Springs Marina on Lake Ouachita out side of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
